Lyrics

LEVIATHAN

“Countries like Iceland and Japan slaughter hundreds
of whales every year. Japan uses the excuse that the
killing of whales is for scientific purposes.
The world and the people of Japan know this to be a lie.”

LEVIATHAN:

Majestic creatures rule the deep
Protecting nature’s balance
Slain and sliced for animal feed
A sacrifice to man’s greed
A sacrifice to man’s greed

The great whales die as the killers lie
And science gets the blame
Leviathans harpooned and dragged into boats
It’s such a bloody shame

You’re killing whales to learn how they live
When they’re all gone will you have your answer?
How can you live with a lie so big?
It could lead our world to disaster
It could lead our world to disaster

The cries of pain echo round the world
It’s the sound of a Mother crying
These sacred beasts with eyes so deep
They all should be protected
They all should be protected
They all should be protected
Protected

When will we learn, will we ever learn?
When will we learn, will we ever learn?
When will we learn, will we ever learn?

YOU ARE MINE

I lick my lips to get your taste
I close my eyes to see your face
I think of you baby all the time
I longed for you before you were mine

Your perfume lingers in the air
I reach for you but you’re not there
And my heart tells me I should feel sorrow
But I’ll see you again tomorrow

Feel like I’m floating on a cloud
I call your name scream it out loud
My heart is thumping when I touch your face
I’m in love there’s no better place

Your perfume lingers in the air
I reach for you but you’re not there
And my heart tells me I should feel sorrow
But I’ll see you again tomorrow

Life doesn’t get any better than this
I melt every time I feel your kiss
I hold my breath when I hold onto you
Is this a dream that I’m living through, babe?

Your perfume lingers in the air
I reach for you but you’re not there
And my heart tells me I should feel sorrow
But I’ll see you again

Yes, I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow
I’m seeing you tomorrow baby, ooh
I know I’ll see you again
Don’t you know that I’ll be seeing you?
Yeah, I’ll be seeing you, I’ll be holding you
I’ll be touching you, I’ll be loving you

GENTLER TONE

I sit all alone, now that it’s night
I won’t get up even to turn on the light
I’ve been like this since we had that fight
Now I don’t remember who was wrong and who was right

I miss you more and more now you’ve gone
Hoped you’d call me on the telephone
Yes I am sad and I feel so alone
Perhaps I should have used a gentler tone

Is it too late can we be friends again?
Now it’s all over all that’s left is pain
You’re in my heart, yeah, you flow through every vein
Without your love life’s just not the same

I miss you more and more now you’ve gone
Hoped you’d call me on the telephone
Yes I am sad and I feel so alone
Perhaps I should have used a gentler tone

Life will go on in a different way
Time heals all wounds that’s what people say
Oh, I might get lucky, find someone else someday
Or maybe you’ll come, back that’s what I pray

I miss you more and more now you’ve gone
Hoped you’d call me on the telephone
I’m feeling sad and so all alone
Perhaps I should have used a gentler tone

Wish you’d call me baby on the telephone
I’m sad and I feel so alone
Perhaps I should have used a gentler
Could have used a gentler tone

PATH TO PEACE

“This song is about the London bombings in July 2005.
The response of the people of London included two minutes
of silence when everything stopped in London. Traffic, even in
the busiest streets, ground to a halt and for two minutes London
was silent. It was a very powerful statement of defiance and unity”.

PATH TO PEACE

Two minutes of absolute silence
Screamed a message so loud and clear
You can hurt us but don’t dare think
We’ll ever succumb to fear
That sound of silence echoed round the world
People stood tall and proud
Take your evil and disappear
Was the message and it sounded loud

And our hearts go out to all that suffer
The world needs a path to peace
It’s time that everybody got together
To stop all hatred, make it cease
Make it cease, work for peace

You can’t justify your evil
You bombed a city but you raised the ire
Of the world of honest people
Your reward will be eternal fire
Oh let me give it to you straight
If your faith teaches you to hate
Then you’re being led by evil
To a sad and sorry fate

Chorus

And our hearts go out to all that suffer
(people gather ‘round us)
The world needs a path to peace
(and we will find a way)
It’s time that everybody got together
(send this message to the world)
To stop all hatred, make it cease (make it cease)
Make it cease (work for peace)

It’s time that everybody got together
(it’s time to get together, it’s time to find a way)
To stop all hatred, make it cease (make it cease)
Make it cease, (make it cease)
Work for peace (work for peace)
Work for peace

GUANTANAMO BAY

“The worldwide fear of terrorism that followed in the wake
of 9/11 has caused previously fair-minded people
to turn a blind eye to gross injustice on their own doorsteps.
Indefinite incarceration without trial is wrong”.

GUANTANAMO BAY

What are we ‘gonna’ do today
Sitting here in Guantanamo Bay?
They took the key and they threw it away
I guess that means I’m here to stay

I’m an untried prisoner of the land of the free
I think this is pure hypocrisy
They say we’ll be saved by democracy
Perhaps I should stand for the presidency

Well the guards all laughed as they tied me up
They said I was a terrorist pup
They stripped me naked and they beat me up
Perhaps I just ran out of luck

Now someone please explain to me
How you can set the whole world free
And give everyone democracy
When you deprive me of my liberty

Well there’s no place where we can play
Down here at Guantanamo Bay
They said my ticket was just one way
I guess that means I’m here to stay

Well I didn’t get much sleep last night
Someone forgot to turn off the light
The guards called me a nasty Shi’ite
That means I don’t get civil rights

In the land of the free, that’s the place to be
Where you’re innocent ’til you’re proven guilty
Well that all sounds real good to me
Please explain it to little Georgie

Chorus “Cause there’s no place…”

Did you bring peace or did you bring war
Do you know what you’re fighting for?
Is your goal to bring democracy
Or to bolster your economy?

So be careful about what you might say
Promote the truth and you could pay
Don’t you go and upset the great US of A
Or you could end up in Guantanamo Bay

Chorus

HERE ONE DAY, GONE THE NEXT

Life’s so full of ups and downs
It was so great to have you around
You could turn the darkest sky
Into so much laughter we would cry

You were with us so short a time
I hardly had the chance to call you mine
I talk to you now when I pray
There’s so much more we had left to say

Here one day then gone the next
Why does God take the very best?
You were only here for a while
Now we miss your ever warming smile

I wonder where it is you are?
You feel so near that you can’t be far
I need to see your smile again
I need your love to help ease my pain

I know that we can’t change the past
The future never comes it’s out of grasp
All we’ve got is called the present
It’s God’s gift and it’s heaven sent

Here one day then gone the next
Why does God take the very best
You were only here for a while
Now we miss your ever warming smile

Here one day then gone the next
Why does God take the very best
You were only here for a while
Now we miss your ever warming smile

MADIBA

Nelson Mandela is probably the most inspirational leader
of our time. He suffered incredible hardship and punishment
and yet became a true statesman on the world stage.
His people call him “Madiba” which means leader.

MADIBA

Ten thousand days in cold prison cells
Because you wanted to be free
Robbed of your precious middle years
Stolen from your family

Madiba:-
You are your country’s inspiration
You have fathered a new nation
You have fought for what is right
You united black and white

Twenty years on Robben Island
Breaking stones from dawn to dark
Could not dull your future vision
Could not break your aching heart

Madiba:-
You are your country’s inspiration
You have fathered a new nation
You have fought for what is right
You united black and white

With faultless faith and a will of steel
With meekness and a true dignity
You called your foe to be your friend
You made your dream a reality

Madiba:-
You are your country’s inspiration
You have fathered a new nation
You have fought for what is right
You united black and white

OH WHAT A LIE

Oh what a lie, oh I could die

You told me you loved me, said I was the one for you
You told me you loved me, said you’d always be true
But then you said goodnight and went and met some other guy
When I saw you in his arms I couldn’t help but cry

Oh what a shame, you’ve only got yourself to blame

I would have made you happy,
I would have changed the world for you
I would have made you happy, I’d never let you be blue
But you knew so much better,
thought you’d play the cheatin’ game
Now you’re all alone, you’ll have to start again

Oh what a lie, oh I could die

You asked me to forgive you, said you were very sad
You asked me to forgive you, if I didn’t you’d call me mad
Well I’ve got news for you I’ve never felt so free before
You can tell me what you want but stay away from my door

Oh I’m on fire, cause I just ditched a liar

I’m gonna find someone to love,
someone who’ll be good for me
Well I’m gonna find someone to love,
someone I can make happy
You think you’re something special
but there’s lots more fish in the sea
I’ll soon forget your name and I’ll be free

Oh I’m free again, I don’t feel any pain
Oh I’m free again, I don’t feel any pain
Oh I’m free again

YOU CRY A LOT THESE DAYS

This is a gentle ballad about the loneliness that often
exists among the older generation. They have given
so much for their families during their lives but
as they get older they get forgotten, not deliberately,
but nevertheless forgotten.

YOU CRY A LOT THESE DAYS

You were the hub of everyone’s life
A mother, sister, a friend and wife
But times move on and days grow long
Emptiness has replaced the busy throng

And you cry a lot these days
Seems to be the only way
That you can show what you can’t say
You cry a lot these days

You once complained you had no time
Oh so busy not an hour to unwind
Now days drag on with nothing to do
You miss the crowd now there’s only you

And you cry a lot these days
Seems to be the only way
That you can show what you can’t say
You cry a lot these days

Last week you didn’t speak to anyone
The phone was silent, and the mail didn’t come
You wonder why you even got out of bed
Does anyone know if you’re alive or dead?

Your family lives so far apart
Children, grandchildren so near to your heart
They’re growing up and they’re all doing fine
You wish they’d spare you just a little time

Cause you cry a lot these days
Seems to be the only way
That you can show what you can’t say
You cry a lot these days

Your tears show what you can’t say
You cry a lot these days

SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE

I stand in the dark and look at myself in the mirror
I cover my ears and listen to my friends talking
Though I stand next to them they say I’ve become distant
When they reach out to help I just push them away

Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me what’s tomorrow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you’ve been gone

I look at the sky, from somewhere under my pillow
I had all the answers now I’ve only got questions
Life was so full I lived in a world of plenty
Now I’m alone and I find my life is empty

Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me what’s tomorrow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you’ve been gone

I want to go out but there’s nowhere to go
I want to call you but I don’t know what to say
When the telephone rings I pray it’s a wrong number
I need a distraction but I don’t know what to do

I stand in the dark and look at myself in the mirror
I had all the answers now I’ve only got questions
All of my friends, they say I’ve become distant
When they reach out to help I just push them away

Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me what’s tomorrow
Since you’ve been gone, since you left me I feel hollow
Since you’ve been gone, since you’ve been gone

DON’T STOMP ON MY DREAMS

You can point and you can criticise
You can say I could have done better
I don’t care about what you think
Cause your opinion doesn’t matter
Oh how can you die if you’ve never lived?
Don’t leave yourself asking what if?
Have a go for it’s better to fall
Than never to have tried at all

Don’t you stomp on my dreams
They’re much more than they seem
I’m gonna make them come true
With or without you
Don’t you stomp on my dreams
They’re much more than they seem
I’m gonna make them come true
I’m gonna do it with or without you

It doesn’t matter how often you fall
It’s how many times you get back up
The winner’s the one that gives it his all
And never, ever gives up
It’s easy to point out all my faults
And call me another failure
But if I know I’ve done my best
Yes I know I’ve done my best

Don’t you stomp on my dreams
They’re much more than they seem
I’m gonna make them come true
With or without you
Don’t you stomp on my dreams
They’re much more than they seem
I’m gonna make them come true
I’m gonna do it with or without you

TWIN TOWERS

Twin Towers is a condemnation of the terrorist attack of 9/11
that destroyed the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre
in New York and killed almost 3,000 people.
The impact of this event has changed the world forever.

TWIN TOWERS

We share your sorrow, we share your grief
We share your outrage and your disbelief
Can’t understand why three thousand died that day
But their memory will never go away
There’s no reason why those Mums and Dads should die
No cause so desperate to make the children cry
An evil heart and mind’s the only motivation
That could promote such destructive abomination

And the innocents came screaming through the sky
The world looked on in horror, asked the question why?
No matter what the reason or how it’s justified
It’s all a bloody lie

I lie awake and worry how this will end
We don’t need enemies we just want friends
When we look for answers, do we need someone to blame?
Punishing innocents leads to further shame

And the innocents came screaming through the sky
The world looked on in horror, asked the question why?
No matter what the reason or how it’s justified
It’s all a bloody lie, it’s all a bloody lie

It’s time to stop all the killing, it’s time to work for peace
It’s time to say all wars must finally cease
Let’s work together against poverty and oppression
Let’s make a world for all, a little slice of heaven

And the innocents came screaming through the sky
The world looked on in horror, asked the question why?
No matter what the reason or how it’s justified
It’s all a bloody lie, it’s all a bloody lie,

It’s all a bloody lie All a bloody lie
It’s all a bloody lie, all a bloody lie
It’s all a bloody lie
